About The Story Weaver Project

In 2012, after my mother passed at the age of eighty-six, I inherited an incredible treasure. While cleaning her apartment at Puerta del Sol, I found an old shoe box filled with letters from family members written during our exodus from our island of sun. As I grieved, I read and catalogued each letter, postcard, note, document and piece of paper. Then, I toyed with the idea of writing a novel based on my rich life experience as a survivor of a congenital illness and as a refugee. At the age of five, I lost my homeland, language, culture, and loved ones. A poet was born from beach wrack. Two weeks before my birthday, head over the pillow, I asked myself a meaningful question. What would the most meaningful birthday gift look like?

The Idea

In dreamland, I heard. “The story of each person’s life is the story of the universe. You are a story weaver. Imagination is your greatest gift. Let others feed your imaginings and go with the flow.” I woke up, ran to the keyboard and transmitted my birthday wish to all my friends. I asked them seven questions:

1. The name you would like to have as a fiction character (be flamboyant);
2. A magical power you desire to develop (it must be something that helps others);
3. A wish for yourself (one sentence);
4. A wish for the earth (one sentence);
5. The place that you always wanted to visit (be specific if Africa, where in Africa);
6. Your favorite animal;
7. Your dream job (the current one if you love it).

Magically, characters flew from different locales in the US, Venezuela, Spain. With the help of my creative and supportive friends, I bring to you The Story Weaver Project.

A Novel on Demand!

Writing a novel online “on demand” is both a terrifying and a liberating process. Being a creative spirit, I want to work outside of the box. I invite you to join me. As friends submit their character, aspirations, dreams or ideas I will weave these into my story. Exposing the creative process to the entire world, fosters interaction between the author and the reader. It allows the reader to change certain aspects of the plot. This process mimics those times when a complete stranger steps into one’s life and radically impacts our matrix, our personal footprint, unleashing possibilities that would have never occurred without that instant of sacred connection. Everything is interdependent and interconnected. I invite you to participate.

Lucid Surrealism

Having few drops of Catalan blood inside my veins, I share a heart connection with Salvador Dali. His fascination with quantum Physics and his exploration of the surreal inspired me through the years. Being at the verge of a new paradigm shift, and sharing a similar interest with the cosmos, where reality is more than what we perceive with our senses, I created a genre termed Lucid Surrealism.

The Commitment

A very hard thing for a Libra! Within the next 365 days, starting on my birthday, October 1st, 2014, I will write a novel. Like a quilt, the pages will weave my life story with the ideas provided by my friends and those who wish to participate. I commit to post one chapter every Sunday. And you, dear reader, will be able to watch the story evolve every week on my blog.

Welcome to my words!
